Happy New Year!

Well, it's the middle of January of the new year and still 'happy new year' going on for me and even a late week Christmas get-together with friends on Friday -- more presents! Can you believe that?

New things happening in the Studio after the flurry of activites around the holidays in between birthdays, parties, lots of eating, traveling and hanging with fabulous art friends. So, now it's time to catch up with my blogging. Speaking of 'new' -- this is my new Blog to rev up the new year hoping to make regular postings and connect with current and new artists. I guess I'll be making several posts today since my "create new blog" on my 'to do' has been screaming at me!
Here we go:

Visual Aids Postcards From the Edge Benefit
Held Nov 30 - Dec 2, 2007
Hosted by the James Cohan Gallery in Chelsea

"Be Square"
4" x 6"
Wax on Paper

This was the 10th annual Postcards from the Edge benefit hosted by the James Cohen Gallery in Chelsea (epicenter of gallery chic says Marcia Yerman from the Huffington Post). There were about 1600 original works on paper (4x6) mounted in rows on the gallery walls. The preview party was jammed!

The works were displayed without reference to the artist and all pieces were for sale at $75. The idea was for collectors to make an aesthetic connection and after they made their purchase, the artist information was available to them and to the artists too! Felt very satisfying to paint for a cause. All proceeds for the benefit, directly supported the ongoing work utilizing the visual arts to keep an emphasis on the AIDS pandemic and offering direct services to artists living with HIV and AIDS.

I was happy to be notified that my "Be Square" piece was purchase by a collector in London! Check out the site for the event and pics at Visual Aids Postcards from the Edge Benefit
If you haven't already participated in the past -- do it for 2008! (Thanks much to Joanne Mattera for passing this info to me as well as the NYU Small Works show that I just entered, and my upcoming show with Art Works SF - "Simple Geometry").

Up I go with another post. Again, Happy New Year and lots of success to everyone in 2008 wherever you are and whatever you're doing -- go for it!
